Got Milk?

Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment... 1 Peter 2:2 NLT

Throughout scripture we are encouraged to stay in the word, fellowship with other believers, and to build our faith by listening to the Word of God being taught. What I love about this verse in 1 Peter, is we are given a reason, "so we will grow into a full experience of salvation." That is awesome! I know what I have now, it's unbelievable! What is the full experience of salvation? All I know, is that I want it!
I was reading Hebrews this morning, and the writer was complaining about the people still needing to be fed with milk rather than meat, so when I read this I was a little confused. The difference is, Hebrews 5:12-14 is being directed towards those who have been Christians for a period of time, but aren't becoming mature in the Lord, whereas it appears that Timothy is speaking to fairly young converts. He continues in verse 3, "now that you have had a taste of the Lord's kindness."
For healthy spiritual growth, I encourage all of you to spend time each day in prayer and in the Bible. I encourage all of you, but especially you newer Christians, to hang out with other believers and learn from them. Go to church, become involved in a fellowship group. Plug in to your community and begin to serve where the Lord directs you. Then one day when you least expect it, the Pastor is going to be serving "meat," and the Holy Spirit will hand you a plate.

God bless.
