Love Covers a Multitude of Sins

"The end of the world is coming soon. Therefore, be earnest and disciplined in your prayers. Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins. Cheerfully share your home with those who need a meal or a place to stay." 1 Peter 4:7-9

None of us know when the end is coming, but the Bible tells us soon. One thing for sure, if I died today, that would be the end of the world for me. Since our time is short, we should make the most of it.

One of the hardest lessons I've learned is that love is not a feeling, it is an action. The problem I have with love is that it gets tangled up with extremely strong feelings. When someone you love hurts you, even if it's unintentional, it is very difficult to deal with. God knows and understands this. That is why he urges us through his word, to continue to love deeply, regardless of the circumstances.

The last part of this scripture should be the easiest for us to fulfill. Unfortunately, it is the very one we usually just read over. Mostly because of fear. We just can't take the chance that we would invite someone in, because they might steal our precious stuff! Lord forgive us. It is easy for me to see why Jesus said, "it would be easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter heaven."
Here in America, this is so evident. We are so stinking rich that we can't even see it, yet we are so in love with all of our stuff that we are afraid someone will take it from us. Lord let me sell all of my treasures and follow you. You are enough! You are all I need!

Do you live in fear? Are you so protective over your things, that you neglect your calling to help those who are in need? Would you like to know more about Jesus? If you answered yes to any of these questions, please click of one of the church links on this page.
