Lord, if you kept a record of our sins, who, O Lord, could ever survive?
But you offer forgiveness, that we might learn to fear you.
Psalms 130:3-4 NLT
God is such a good God! Where could I go but to the Lord? My life has been a complete mess. For years I lived only for my own selfish desires. I couldn't even begin to explain all of the depravity I have been caught up in. Everything from drugs to immorality. If God served me the justice I deserved, instead of the mercy provided by Jesus Christ, I would be dead and in hell. That's exactly what all of us deserve, but because of the sacrifice made on the cross, we can be saved from the judgment of Almighty God. Thanks to Jesus, the only begotten son of God, we are able to enter into His mercy. Not by anything we can do on our own, but through grace by faith in Jesus alone, we are saved. It is a free gift. It is the greatest miracle ever performed.
One thing I find amazing in this passage of scripture, is the psalmist (who many believe was Hezekiah,) was shown this small glimpse of the mercy & grace of Jesus Christ hundreds of years before he came to redeem us. The Lord has fulfilled the requirements and paid the penalty of our sin. The Bible teaches that He who knew no sin became sin, that we might have life. How awesome is that?
