Crippled by Sin

When Jesus perceived their thoughts, he answered them, “Why do you question in your hearts?  Which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Rise and walk’?  But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”—he said to the man who was paralyzed—“I say to you, rise, pick up your bed and go home.” And immediately he rose up before them and picked up what he had been lying on and went home, glorifying God. And amazement seized them all, and they glorified God and were filled with awe, saying, “We have seen extraordinary things today.”                                            Luke 5:22-26

There are so many layers to the stories and miracles performed by Jesus, that no single thing can be written that is all conclusive.  Tomorrow you or I, may read these same few verses and get something completely new out of it.  That is why it's called the "Living Word," and I never get bored by reading my bible.
Why would Jesus equate healing a cripple with forgiving his sins?  Think about it, all sin is crippling.  From the obvious, alcoholism, substance abuse and rage, to more subtle sin like lust or covetousness.
Whatever our particular brand or brands of sinfulness is crippling our lives or destroying our relationships, Jesus is telling us today that we can pick up our bed and walk away from it.  In him there is no condemnation!  He completely forgives and heals us from all unrighteousness!
If you would like to be free, to enjoy life as it is meant to be, in right relationship with the Father, allow Jesus, through the power of the Holy Spirit, to forgive you your sin.  To heal your crippled heart.
