Letting Your Light Shine

"You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father. Matt 5:14-16

What else needs to be said? If we claim to be Christians, but our own household, or our next door neighbors can't tell by our lifestyle, then there is something wrong. I've been told that I might be the only Bible some people will ever read, that is very scary! Do I reflect the light of Jesus, or have I hidden my light under a basket?
When I pray, I ask the Lord to make me usable, that way when a door of opportunity opens I'll be ready to move with the leading of The Holy Spirit. However, it all comes back to how I'm living. If my unsaved loved one see's me living like the rest of the world, why would he believe me if I tell him there is a better way with Jesus?
That doesn't mean we have to be perfect before God will or can use us, it just means we are supposed to be transparent in our faith. That we are supposed to be living on mission. That we are prepared to help those we come into contact with that are in need. That we openly love God, love people & push back darkness.
Let your light shine! Freely give to others what has been freely given to you. The Lord is good, share his goodness with those around you. Pray that God will make you usable, then allow Him to use you.
